Ph.D. position in Digitization and Operations Management
Lille Economics and Management (LEM UMR CNRS 9221) and IÉSEG School of Management invite applications for a fully funded Ph.D. position on the impact of Digitization on Employees and Operations Management at its Lille Campus.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
With this research project, we aim to understand the impact of digitization on employees and operational systems and contribute to the development and better implementation of technologies in companies.
This Ph.D. fits into the BALANCE project, a collaboration between Infrabel (the Belgian railway Infrastructure company) and IÉSEG School of Management, with the financial support of ANR (the French National Research Agency). BALANCE focuses on managing workload and improving employee well-being in digital operations and links to more research on the industry of the future concerned with people, organizations, and technologies.
The Ph.D. lies at the cross-section of Information Systems, Quantitative Methods and Operations Management, and will as such be supported by a multi-disciplinary team of three professors in the respective fields. The selected candidate with be working with the supervision of LECLERCQ VANDELANNOITTE Aurélie, VERSCHELDE Marijn and VAN DEN BROEKE Maud.
The project entails a hands-on approach, analyzing already available data and collecting extra relevant information at Infrabel, and proving implementable tools and suggestions to support the company’s decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Have a MSc. (or be close to completion) in a relevant field, such as
- Management, business engineering, business analytics, information systems, or related.
- Strong analytical skills and commitment to research excellence.
- Programming experience in R, STATA, Python, or Matlab
- Familiarity with empirical analysis.
- Excellent command of written English.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The selected applicant is expected to begin his/her assignment in September 2023. Gross salary will be competitive with other European research and academic institutions. The Ph.D. student will be based in Lille (on the site of IÉSEG School of Management). The selected candidate will have to enroll in the Ph.D. program at the University of Lille. The Ph.D. student will get all the means and support to engage in innovative, business-relevant research projects with high potential to get published in international peer reviewed journals.
