IÉSEG School of Management - Lille Economics and Management (LEM, CNRS) invites applications for a 12-month fully funded postdoctoral position in Operations Research/ Management on its Lille campus starting in September 2025. He/She/They will be a part of the Department of “Operations Management”.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Operations Management department consists of around 20 members who teach and conduct research in the areas of Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Management, Project Management, Product Development and Revenue Management. Our diverse body of permanent professors have recently published articles in in top-tier refereed international journals such as European Journal of Operational Research, Production and Operations Management, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of the Operational Research Society and Expert Systems with Application, among other. ABOUT THE POSITION
The appointment is for 12 months starting in September 2025 in Lille (on the campus of IÉSEG School of Management), with the possibility of one 6-month extension. Gross salary will be competitive with other European research and academic institutions.
The selected candidate will join a small research team to conduct high-quality research and is expected to collaborate with the team to advance research on how individuals’ and teams’ behaviour (in terms of task execution) impact operational outcomes in a digitized setting. To this end, the postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with Professors Marijn Verschelde (Click here for profile) and Maud Van den Broeke (Click here for profile), both Full Professors at IÉSEG School of Management.
The position is part of an ANR funded project, called BALANCE (Equilibrer la charge de travail pour améliorer le bien-être des employés dans un contexte digital | ANR). The candidate would work on available data (related to this topic) from a company (focused on knowledge workers in digital control rooms) and would need to safeguard the practical relevance and validity of findings for this company. He/She/They will receive regular mentorship and be expected to disseminate research by submitting academic manuscripts to top management journals such as those of the ABS list.
The selected candidate is expected to conduct research and write papers on research projects with the other team members. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunities to exchange with an international network of scholars specializing in the areas of operations research/management.
The selected candidate is expected to:
- hold a PhD in operations research/ management, computer sciences, industrial engineering, or a related discipline.
- Have a solid research background in empirical research and/or mathematical programming, and an ability to deal with large datasets
- have a proven research track record, and experience in empirical research and/or developing analytical models in past research projects.
- Excellent programming skills (e.g., Stata/Python/Matlab/R).
- Be fluent in English.
The selected candidate would have the possibility to engage in some limited teaching activities (although not obliged) in the Operations Management Department.
Professional experience and knowledge of French are a plus, but not a requirement.
